Madeleine Perreault,
I remember reading this in elementary school and loving it。 I remember I wanted to read more from Shel Silverstein。 This is a classic!
Aisha,
Okay wow。。 I started reading this 5mins ago and finished it right now and OH MY GOD it's super cute and kind but upsetting at the same time, it has such great meanings。。 Now I started realizing that kids stories have much more power than I used to think when I was a kid (tho i'm 16, STILL a kid, yeah i know lol)。。 Now I actually wish I could go back to my early childhood and read children's books as passionately as I do now。 Okay wow。。 I started reading this 5mins ago and finished it right now and OH MY GOD it's super cute and kind but upsetting at the same time, it has such great meanings。。 Now I started realizing that kids stories have much more power than I used to think when I was a kid (tho i'm 16, STILL a kid, yeah i know lol)。。 Now I actually wish I could go back to my early childhood and read children's books as passionately as I do now。 。。。more

Cute story I didn’t expect this to be such a quick read。 Like in one sitting。 A short one at that。 It was a sweet story。
Maria Johnson,
This book always moves me without knowing why。 It’s a piece of art that stirs emotions deep in your soul like every masterpiece。 It’s sweet, sad and beautiful but like every other artistic creations it depends what rocks your boat。

Forgot to rate this a few months ago。 It's a kids book and takes less than 5 minutes to read, but it's a very special story。 One that teaches empathy, gratitude, exploitation of our resources and one-sided relationships。 I think about, and talk about this story a lot。 Forgot to rate this a few months ago。 It's a kids book and takes less than 5 minutes to read, but it's a very special story。 One that teaches empathy, gratitude, exploitation of our resources and one-sided relationships。 I think about, and talk about this story a lot。 。。。more
Aryan,
This story is very similar to the stories that my mom told me when I was a young boy。。。This story will tell you about how a tree devoted his life helping the boy
Kristine Lund,
The giving treeNice message enjoyed reading to my grandson at bedtime。 Short stories are nice to read at bedtime。 Lessons are fun to learn through stories

The Giving Tree:First impression: I don't know how I feel about this story。Additionally, when I look at the illustrations and color scheme。 Its lack of color invokes feelings of negativity。 I got swept away by all the choices in the story。 It left me a bit upset。 I wonder if it was created in color; if it would change my initial impression。It's a story about a boy and a tree。 The boy and tree love each other and have created a lifetime bond。 The young boy grows up to live his life。 Asks a lot fr The Giving Tree:First impression: I don't know how I feel about this story。Additionally, when I look at the illustrations and color scheme。 Its lack of color invokes feelings of negativity。 I got swept away by all the choices in the story。 It left me a bit upset。 I wonder if it was created in color; if it would change my initial impression。It's a story about a boy and a tree。 The boy and tree love each other and have created a lifetime bond。 The young boy grows up to live his life。 Asks a lot from the tree。The tree has humanistic capabilities like being sympathetic and giving。Over time they interact together。 The boy leaves and eventually comes back to the tree。 Whereas the tree is always waiting for him。Looking at the tree's POV the boy is everything。 No task is too little。 The tree has given up its leaves, branches, and stump to the boy。 I think it shows great caring and stability to the other party。 The tree is unselfish and enjoys the little pleasures when interacting with the boy。Looking at the boy POV the tree is its long-term companion。 The bond was so great that he continues to come back to it over the years。 It asks a great many things from the tree。 When problems or situations arise。 The boy goes back to his tree because he knows he can count it to provide。Second impression: I think it's a story about parents and their kids。 As parents, we would do anything from them。 As a child, our first great love was created from the familial bond。 It's a relationship of give and take。 。。。more
Rita Hausmann,
As a parent, (mother) this book speaks volumes to me, as giving is what a parent does。 I think this message of appreciating what your mom (or dad) has done, is received, on some level, by my children。 A great lesson。
Jennifer Brooks,
Definitely my kids' favorite book that I read several times a week。 A great book on learning to be giving but also appreciating what you have before it is gone。 Definitely my kids' favorite book that I read several times a week。 A great book on learning to be giving but also appreciating what you have before it is gone。 。。。more

Loved it as a child, dislike it as a woman and a mother。
Dhananjay Deshpande,
Human greed and giving nature of tree explained nicely。
Karla,
I'm not sure why this book rubbed me the wrong way。 I agree with another comment I just saw。 The tree 'selfless love' is more like an invitation to be taken advantage of。 Maybe I just didn't get it but that's just my opinion。 I'm not sure why this book rubbed me the wrong way。 I agree with another comment I just saw。 The tree 'selfless love' is more like an invitation to be taken advantage of。 Maybe I just didn't get it but that's just my opinion。 。。。more

audydapotato,
This sad yet life changing book is something you HAVE to read。 Although it's short and simple, it gives a clear message about friendships and that some people will stick with you no matter what。 This sad yet life changing book is something you HAVE to read。 Although it's short and simple, it gives a clear message about friendships and that some people will stick with you no matter what。 。。。more

Nik,
very very hard read。
Wei Ming,
Read this when I was 9 in my schools library。 Cried。
Sophia Breedlove,
This short story is extremely sweet。 I would recommend toward younger audiences but adults could also enjoy it。
